Kerak Castle Jordan

The ancient stronghold crusade with Petra and Madaba is part of a circuit whose visit is a must for lovers of history and archaeology, and one of the most important treasures offered by this country.
Its location, close to Jerusalem and the Dead Sea, and on the pilgrimage route to Mecca, has made the city the scene of countless historical events, which have seen among their main protagonists Saladin, unmerciful Carolingian rulers and the epic Crusader armies.

At the historical record is added to the awesomeness of the name of Armenian origin ( Karak means "city" ) and the mention of the citadel in the biblical scriptures, well prior to the events of the Crusades.
And well known that the highlight of Karak is it's castle - the soul strongly military monument, dating from the period of the Crusaders, the representative of the military art developed in this period, although it overlap of the finest architectural styles dating from other periods. The fort also houses the tomb of the biblical figure of Noah.

The path to the fortress and its towers has recently been 
enhanced by audio-visual projections that trace the history of 
the citadel, and the dramatic backdrop created by the lighting of 50 beacons .

To complete the tour of the castle there is the 
Archaeological Museum, the Main Square, the colorful markets 
and many Ottoman buildings of great value.
